Tot Club is a Preschool Educational Playgroup

Great as an alternative to "traditional" preschool, an enriching social activity, or mom's day out program!

We focus on the below attributes and so much more!
  
SOCIAL SKILLS-Strong focus on self-reliance and emotional maturity. Children will learn independence skills, functioning as part of a group, following directions and respecting authority figures, negotiating with peers, taking turns, sharing, identifying and communicating feelings, getting needs met in socially appropriate ways, developing a sense of character traits and understanding community, and becoming strong, confident, and resilient children

 EDUCATIONAL ASPECTS- We offer many toys that stimulate logical reasoning, problem solving, teamwork, and creativity. Likewise we engage in cooking opportunities, and projects that help with mathematical concepts, letter recognition and phonics, and language comprehension. The kids just think they are "playing", but they are learning so much!

Inside and outside free play, sensory and art experiences, music and movement, circle time filled with songs, finger plays and puppets, snack time, story time, cooking, nature walks, and lots of laughter, squeals, friendship, and fun!

 

 We are unique because...

I am a fellow mom who just loves working with kids. I have felt called to open my home to host a drop-off playgroup so kids have a fun peer group they can socialize with on a regular basis, and you parents can get some scheduled alone time as well! If you are looking for a relationship based, intimate, family environment where your child is safe and loved, without paying for all the "bells and whistles" type places, then you have found the right place!

Tot Club is administratively casual in the sense that you pay one monthly fee and it covers everything! You won't feel like you are being "nickel and dimed".  You can take unpaid vacation time, you can make up lost time in another group if space is available, you don't sign any contracts, and you can avoid pulling your hair out over the whole "touring", "waitlist", and "application" nightmare. It's simple, affordable, flexible, and you can trust your child is in great hands with us. 

I used to run the Tot Club "mommy and me" program for 2 yrs. and now have evolved it into something very near and dear to my heart. I hold a dual Masters Degree in Family Counseling and School Counseling with an emphasis on Child Development and Applied Behavior Analysis. Likewise, I have completed all the educational requirements to be a preschool director. My husband and I are licensed as a foster care home (we will be adopting a little girl soon) so we meet state standards for safety, we both have fingerprint clearance at the highest level, health screen and TB clearance and are pediatric CPR/1st Aid certified. 


Group Information

Playgroups form with 3 committed participants, and are 3 hours of drop-off fun!

Once a week is $100 monthly and additional days offer increasingly discounted rates. Siblings are 50% off!

We Located in the Culver/Marina area, and offer free play dates so your child can meet their new friends!

Tot Club is just what I always wanted for my 3 year old son. My son gets to spend time away from me in a safe and nurturing environment which is helping him to become more independent and to develop his social skills. Miss Shelly is one of the hardest working and most enthusiastic childcare professionals I have ever met. She provides a rich, stimulating and varied program for those in her care in a family environment where the kids feel comfortable and "at home". Miss Shelly seems to have mastered the perfect balance between supervision and intervention, encouraging the children to develop independent skills. She is sensitive and attentive to the children whilst being highly aware of when it is best to let them try something out themselves. My son has learnt a great deal at Tot Club, though it is not a traditional preschool, Miss Shelly is constantly interacting with them and teaching them about the world around them. -----
